Audition Requirements 2008-2009
Scale and arpeggio Requirements: All scales and arpeggios will be played from memory slurring two 8th notes, quarter note = 88.
Scales and arpeggios must be memorized. Do not play 3 octaves - we are asking for 2 for consistency and brevity. In addition, in order to be consistent with All State requirements we are asking specifically for the bottom two octaves.
Violin: Two octave scales and arpeggios, slurring two eighth notes per bow quarter note = 88 G, A, Bb, C, D, Eb and F
Viola: Two octave scales and arpeggios, slurring two eighth notes per bow quarter note = 88 C, D, Eb, F and G
Cello: Two octave scales and arpeggios, slurring two eigth notes per bow quarter note = 88 C, D, Eb, F, G, A, Bb
Bass: One octave scales and arpeggioes, slurring two eight notes per bow quarter note = 88 C, G, D, A, F, Bb
Solo: One movement of a work which is demonstrative of your ability. Due to the enormous number of violin auditions it should be noted that a very well prepared Seitz or Vivaldi concerto is the minimum level for consideration into the orchestras.
Sight Reading: All students will be asked to sight read.
